Our Business: Personal Bio

Sue Swanson is the founder and CEO of Swanson Law Office. She is a three (3) time graduate of the University of North Dakota holding a Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science and International Studies, a Master of Business Administration, and a Juris Doctorate of Law. She practices exclusively in the field of immigration law.

Sue’s immigration law practice focuses on family and employment law as it relates to immigration law, naturalization, asylum, deportation defense, and advising other attorneys on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions. Sue provides I-9 advising, training, and internal audits to both small and large businesses, and represents businesses in the event of an ICE audit. Sue Swanson is in Independent Contract Attorney with the North Dakota (ND) Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents, providing legal advice to ND Public Defenders whose clients may be facing immigration consequences due to a criminal conviction.

Sue has more than many years of experience in the field of immigration as both a legal assistant and an attorney. Prior to opening her own law practice, Sue served as the Associate Director of International Programs for the University of North Dakota where she served as the University’s immigration specialist. She also worked as a Legal Assistant for one of the top immigration attorneys in northern Florida. Sue has studied and worked abroad in Colombia, South America and Guatemala, Central America. She speaks Spanish fluently. Sue resides in Grand Forks, ND with her husband and two sons.
